The Beard Grooming Guide
There has been much made in recent months about so called “peak beard.” For those unfamiliar with the notion, it basically means that men with beards look less attractive than their clean-shaven counterparts, because of the sheer amount of beards that are on the streets everyday.
There are several reasons why we do not agree with this – there are countless men that look great with beards (actors George Clooney, Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds to name just a few). However, we do feel that a well-groomed and maintained bit of facial hair is a great compromise – you only need to take a look at our new Men of Entouraaj feature to see some great facial hair on display. With that in mind, here is a short guide to how to keep your beard looking its most fresh.
Remington Vacuum Beard and Grooming Kit
The Remington Vacuum Beard and Grooming Kit is brilliant for those that want to maintain short stubble (the easiest and most style friendly facial hair choice). What is extra special about this beard trimmer is that it has a vaccum, which collects messy beard trimmings as you groom and stores them neatly inside a chamber.
When using a beard trimmer, make sure you have a comb of your beard before you start. There are beard combs available for those that want to go all out. With any device, make sure you are careful before you set your desired length – if in doubt, start on a higher setting than you think that you need and then go down if needed.
The shape of your beard should work with your face shape – sometimes you have to know that having a bit of designer stubble isn’t going to turn you into David Beckham but that doesn’t mean that it wont work for you.
Apothecary 87 Beard Oil
If you are undettered by the peak beard fanatics, you may decide to go all out and grow a full beard. Keeping a long beard is not simply a case of stopping shaving and hoping for the best. Admittedly it takes less work than short stubble, but it still needs to be maintained.
A beard trimmer should be used on a long setting, worked through the beard to make sure that it still looks smart and stylish. You can maintain great skin and hair around your beard with beard oil – the lightly scented range from Apothecary 87 comes highly recommended.
And there you have it – a simply guide to how to keep your beard. You may not be “on trend” but you will still look pretty cool.
