As Christmas party season approaches (the next two weeks will see you struggle to get a table in any restaurant or bar in town as swarms of office workers drink to excess, regretfully snog their co-workers and wake up with god awful hangovers) its hard to stand out. Whilst we have previously recommended that you be yourself, don’t dress too over the top etc, it’s also the time to stand out a little. The best way to do that is with a great selection of accessories. Here’s out handpicked selection of the best of the season.
A scarf is a fantastic alternative to a tie. It is instantly more rakish, keeps out the cold and looks especially good when tucked into the lapels of a great overcoat or blazer. For evening events opt for slim and silk, like these design from Noose & Monkey at Asos.
The bow tie
Should your party have a dress code, it would be rude not to stick to it. Keep things classic and simple with a great silk black bow tie. Gieves & Hawkes are the place to go for the best quality. This luxurious black grosgrain silk design is a perfect example.
Cufflinks are a lovely finishing touch to a look and there is nothing better than taking off your jacket and being complimented on your cuff links. The current collection from Alice Made This have the wow factor. These will get everyone talking (in the right way of course).
Don’t fall at the last hurdle chaps. You would look awful if you have a great suit, shirt and scarf on and a crappie pair of shoes. Duke & Dexter is a new brand that have the dapper factor and are also highly wearable and not too in your face. If you have the guts, we would opt for the Crowning Glory shoes in black.
Don’t get the secretary see you in your gruppy gym pants. Dress from the outside in and invest in a pair of good quality pants that will promise quality and comfort. Versace briefs have the right amount of flash and cool in equal spades. Shop at Selfridges.
