Essential winter warmers

You can’t help but have noticed that temperatures have dropped somewhat of late. It’s officially winter and that means you are less likely to want to go outside. Of course, you still have to go to work, get fresh air etc and we think we have a solution for you. Take a look at our list of essential winter warmers and invest in these pieces to make sure you keep warm when out in the cold this winter.

The coat

Make sure that your coat is insulated – it’s the one way to make sure that the warmth is on the inside of the jacket. Shearling is a major trend for the season (actually it is a major trend for every season). This seasons variation sees a more bomber like shape, such as this fantastic leather aviator style jacket from Belstaff at Mr Porter.

The gilet

For the truly outdoors gent, comfort is more important than style. We do not see any reason why you should have to compromise though. The Atherstone wool gilet at Jack Wills is the perfect mix of function and style, with a classic shape, herringbone wool fabric and insulated 50% down.

Gloves

Whilst we love the idea of keeping our hands free (to chat, text and Snapchat to our hearts content) the only way to really ensure that your hands are warm over the cold months is to invest in a good pair of gloves. As with outerwear, it is what’s on the inside that counts. Take a look at these Barbour leather utility gloves in brown for an example of what we are talking about. They are real leather, with a faux-fir trim and a ribbed cuff. Shop at Asos.

Knitwear

Layering is another massive winter trend. This writer is not a massive fan of piling clothes atop of one another so suggests that you get yourself a super thick jumper. It makes it much easier when coming and out of doors and you wll not feel like you are wearing your whole wardrobe at one time. River Island has a great selection.

Footwear

905-10023-krossdlinedsherlokp1109_black_m Once again, it makes sense to make sure that your shoes are fit for purpose. In England that purpose means that you need to be able to wear them to work, at home, on the weekend and in rain, wind and snow. We cant find any shoes more perfect than these Diesel leather boots at Selfridges.
