Chelsea Riverside Brasserie: Italian Restaurant Chelsea
Best for seafood, steak and alfresco dining
Halal Chelsea RestaurantMost impressive is that the meat is halal (apart from the beef and baby spatchcock chicken) and there are a vast variety of seafood dishes on offer; something of a speciality here.
Vegetarian Restaurant ChelseaThe vegetarian options are equally impressive and as you might expect with an Italian menu, they are mainly pasta and risotto based. There are at least 4 vegetarian starters and 4 vegetarian mains on offer but the restaurant is able to offer many of the non-vegetarian items without the meat.
STARTERSThe soup of the day, a roasted red pepper soup is tangy, flavoured well and served expertly with crisp breads. The smoked tuna made for a tasty light starter and is brought to life with the caper dressing.
MAINSThe vegetarian ravioli is a wholesome dish offering fresh spinach and ricotta in a simple yet rich tomato sauce. The 8oz beef fillet steak was served medium-rare and cooked to absolute perfection. Accompanied by French fries, Béarnaise sauce and a side of wilted garlic spinach, it could not have been bettered elsewhere.
DESSERTSThe delectable chocolate fondant makes a perfect light dessert and comes served with pear sorbet. But it's the strawberry sundae which truly impresses. A classic English summer dessert assembled thoughtfully and offering a superb alternative to a chocolate dessert.
DRINKSAs you would expect being part of a 5 star hotel, the wine and cocktail menu is extensive and caters for all tastes. The house selection of rosé and red wine offer good options and easy drinking for those who may not fancy themselves wine pros.
PRICESAbout £50 per head for a 3-course meal, glass of house wine and a soft drink.
