When last year, Oliver Sweeney developed their first ever denim collection, we were thrilled with the results. Now, we are thrilled once again, as the brand has colloaborated with American selvedge denim manufacturers Billam Jeans to produce a strictly limited edition range of black selvedge denim jeans.
Made with 12.25oz black selvedge denim from a research and development team in North Carolina, the denim is a unique and rare kind that has a distinct white line that is available in a tailored, straight leg style. The design of the jeans in this range , is an ode to the vintage patterns and techniques that have been brought into the twenty first century with modern thinking technology and design.
As per the original collaboration, each of the pairs in the range has been made with classic and extremely rare 1940s Union Special hemming machine which rather cleverly dictates the way that the jeans will uniquely fade over time (and trust us that this is a a good thing – in fact that there is nothing better than a well lived in pair of jeans that have grown worn with you). The unique fading is reminiscent of the way that Oliver Sweeney uses antiquated leathers on their shoes, which create a beautiful unique pattern for the wearer.
The Cobbler in Chief at Oliver Sweeney, Mr Tim Cooper has spoken to us about the range and said “From the moment I came across Billam Jeans, it was clear to me that their obsession for detail was what so clearly defined them. I fell in love with their style, story and authenticity from the off and the success of our original collaboration with them was such because, like me, our customers recognised their genuine commitment and understanding of the importance of high quality craftsmanship, right down to the smallest of details and stitching. I am excited to extend this collaboration and shared obsession for taking something traditional and making it modern.”
From £179, limited to 30 pairs and available at Oliver Sweeney.
