As the post Christmas lull starts to wear off, our thoughts will inevitably start to turn to looking and feeling great in 2017. To help you along the way, River Island has just this week launched RI Active for men, a fashion forward collection for the gent that likes to look good when working out. This 14-piece collection of tops, bottoms and outerwear effortlessly fuses premium sports fabrics with contemporary design and real performance features.
For us the highlights of the collection are the technical details that make it stand apart from other high street collections. These include seamless sweaters, zip-front hoodies and block panelled sweat-shorts which allow for maximum comfort and stretch. The windbreaker jacket assembled with breathable mesh lining and showerproof outer shell is both stylish and hardy for outdoor pursuits. For high intensity training the digitally printed vests and t-shirts utilise performance microfiber fabric that keeps the body cool during workouts.
Of course any gym collection worth its salt needs to look pretty nifty whilst being functional. The technical sports hardware in bursts of acid yellow and electric blue punctuate a masculine colour palette of mid-greys, black and white. A range of functional features include sealed zippers and headphone eyelets, specially designed phone/music player pockets securely conceal valuables, which we think are pretty clever and awesome details.
Speaking of the launch of the new collection, the Head of Menswear Buying at River Island, Nick Tahir says “RI Active was born out of a growing market the average male consumer doesn’t just care too. We wanted to offer a collection that was both stylish and functional, combining technical features and performance materials with our house design style to offer a solid range that ticks all the boxes. Whether you’re looking for stylish athleisure separates or a new gym uniform, RI Active has you covered”.
River Island has enlisted corrective exercise coach and fitness personality Roger Frampton as the face of the campaign. Through a variety of whole-body workouts, he effortlessly showcases the versatility of the RI active range. Frampton will also support the launch of the collection in the New Year with a series of guest appearances on River Island’s online channels and social media.
Available in selected River Island stores and now with prices ranging from £15 - £40.
