Six Shoes You Need This Summer
We will all know by now, that the fact that we have changes in the season, means that we often need to mix up our wardrobe choices. No one is suggesting that this means that every summer you do a complete wardrobe overhaul – heavens no. What we do mean, is that we take a look at what we have each season and see what we can do to make our lives easier – to breathe better in the summer and to keep out the cold in the winter.
For summer, this extends from the shirts that you wear to the shoes that you sport. This handy guide aims to school you in the footwear choices that we are championing for summer 2016.
Not so fashionable in the late Nineties as they are now, sliders are back in a big way. You can see the appeal – super comfortable, with a retro charm and you can even break the long held rule that socks and sandals do not mix by getting a pair of sliders this summer. You can even show your support for England with these nationalistic Adidas designs at Topman.
Think that you are a rock star? If you are missing a pair of Cuban heels then no one will take you seriously. Channel Alex Turner of Artic Monkeys fame with these leather harness boots, from Saint Laurent at Mr Porter. Wear with the brands iconic bomber jacket for an added LA vibe.
Now this may seem like an odd choice for the summer but everyone in England knows that a summer may be full of as many cold days as it may warm. As such, you need a good pair of boots that you can wear during the summer, that aren’t stifling and that still exude a summer tone. This is where suede comes in. The fabric instantly lifts the Chelsea boots from the winter and makes it a very cool summer shoe. We are especially fond of these tan tone ones at River Island.
More of an “essential pair of sneakers” that you need in your wardrobe at all times as opposed to a summer shoe essential, we would highly recommend getting yourself a pair if you don’t already have them. Literally wear them with anything – denim shorts, jeans, chinos and smartened up too. Go for the slightly smarter ones at Raf Simons at Matches Fashion.
Staying with sneakers, you will know that the suit and sneakers trend is now a very real thing. We’ve seen so many dapper gents in London rocking tailored siots with statement sneakers. The key to getting this trend right is to keep the suit neutral and one tone, and investing in luxury sneakers, and you don’t get much more luxury than Tom Ford at Mr Porter.
If you are the kind of guy that wont be seen dead in a pair of sneakers, luxury or not, and your idea of “dressed down” is deck shoes, then the summer shoe for you is the woven loafer. Not the pair that your Dad used to wear around the house, we are thinking more the Riviera yacht style that works really well for a preppy college look. Head to Topman to shop the style for less.
